DRDA, Tezu is an autonomous body, which was established during the year 1983 to act on the rural development activities in its jurisdiction. Earlier this DRDA was functioning for Lohit District as a whole.
Lohit district situated in the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh having total geographical area of 5,212 Sq. Km. The district have three administrative circles named Sunpura, Tezu, Wakro. It comprises of 02 CD Blocks i.e. Tezu & Wakro. It also comprises of 03 Zilla Parishad segments namely, Sunpura, Tezu and Wakro and 31 Gram Panchayat constituencies. The maximum part of the district is of plain areas.
In 2011, Lohit had population of 49,776 of which male and female were 26,365 and 23,441 respectively.
The main function of the DRDA is to implement the various centrally/State sponsored programmes for poverty alleviation in rural areas. For this purpose to ascertain the poverty situation, SECC’2011census is conducted as an when it is instructed by the Govt.
For alleviation of rural poverty various centrally/state sponsored programmes are being implemented by this DRDA. During the year some programmes were implemented by this DRDA. These are:
Rural Employment Programme- MG-NREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act)
Rural Shelter – PMAY (Gramin)
MAHAMATA GANDHI – NATIONAL RURAL EMPLOYMENT GRANTEE ACT (MG-NEGA) OBJECTIVE
The basic objective of the ACT is to enhance livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. This work guarantee can also serve other objectives: generating productive assets, protecting the environment, empowering rural women, reducing rural urban migration and fostering social equity, among others.
PRADHAN MANTRI AWAAS YOJANA (GRAMIN)
Hon’ble Prime Minister of India shri Narendra Modi has launched this scheme on 20th November’2016. The new Rural Housing Programme is designed to needs and aspiration of the households. With a higher unit cost, it allow for construction using local materials and local house design. Home will have cooking area, toilet, LPG connection, Electricity connection and water supply through convergence and beneficiaries can plan their homes as per their needs. The selection of beneficiaries has been through a rigorous process using socio- economic and caste census (SECC). Data for those who are homeless or in 0,1,2,3 categories were selected.
III. PLAN FOR FUTURE COURSE OF ACTION: Govt. of India, Ministry of Rural Development has approved 231005 Mandays for the financial year 2018-19 and out of that we have achieved 41665 mandays upto July’2018 which was reflected in MIS

Prime Minister’s Awaas Yojana PMAY (G) :- The future plan for implementation of the schemes will depend on receipt of fund as well as target from the Govt.

Construction of Aganwadi Centre under Focus Area Bhekuliang (GP) has been constructed under Focus Area Programme during the year 2016-17 at Bhekuliang Gram Panchayat with the involvement of 134 beneficiaries under the programme. The work is carried out under the monitor of village land monitoring committee, after duly submitted the completion report from monitoring committee. Accordingly, wage is released to post master for release to their respective account open at post office. The beneficiaries and population are happy with the programme being able to participate in nation building at grassroots level besides earning as well.
C/O INTER VILLAGE LINK ROAD AT POMLIANG PH-III
Pomliang is located at a distance of 07 km from Tezu Headquarter the total population is 803 approximate and an inhabitant of indigenous MISHMI Tribe. The centrally sponsored schemes for poverty eradication programme under MG-NREGA, C/o C/o INTER VILLAGE LINK ROAD AT POMLIANG, PH – III was taken up during the year 2016 -17. Under Pomliang Gram Panchayat 265 household were registered under MG-NREGA and each job card holder were given 36 days wage employment [at] `.172.00 per day per job card holder. The total mandays created were 9540 of which mandays contributed by women were 5472 others respectively. Total amount of `. 16,40,800/-has been paid through WW account which credited to their respective account opened at nearest post office. In the work process, job cardholder individually unearthed the land from both sides upto two and half foot deep and two foot wide and poured the unearthed land uniformly upto the height of two and half foot from the original level and covered a length of 6.5 mtrs, from single job card holder and finally sand shingles for a thick of 6cm were spread over the newly constructed road and created an asset of 1732 Mtr. for their own Gram panchayat from 265 job card holders.
The villagers and dwellers of Pomliang Gram panchayat was very satisfied and happier from their new road for the smooth communication in transporting their goods and belonging. The job card holders were happy enough by participating themselves in developmental work for their own village besides earning as well from the programme. They admit that this MG-NREGA programme is boon for the poor family and wish to perform such type of work honestly and regularly in future too.
